Songs - What do they mean? (part 2)

Tue Nov 17, 2009, 11:47 AM
The Artist in the Poem
The original title was "The Artist and the Poem". This is another one of my songs from someone else's point of view, not my own, though the ending changes from their point of view to my point of view. I don't have much to say about this song.

Pendulum in the Pit
Ah, now this is one of my big inspirational songs, thanks to Edgar Allen Poe. I was going through such depression and Poe's story The Pit and the Pendulum described how I was feeling so I took references from that story and made it to my point of view. I took the Latin quote just for the hell of it.

Don't Cry
A soul is breaking and the poet is comforting.

Ghost of an Era
Just a remake of my old song. I'm fairly satisfied and I left a bit of an "old mark" on the song, which can also be a kink. It's about a troubadour dreaming whilst looking over the sea it loves and creates a story in its own mind. It's something I would do, not that I actually done it but any piece about the ocean is dear to me. This song may not be my greatest but it is personal to me.

Poet's Love Story
This is another one of my best works, in my opinion. Another personal piece about what I owe to the musician who changed and saved my life.

Acrimony of the Opus
I'd consider this not one of my best pieces. I think I overdid it by using too many metaphors and "fantasy lines", which kills the song.

Young King's Tomb
I wanted to explore my mind to something different: Tutankhamun. I wanted the title to be "Tutankhamun" but I'd figure it'd be best not for it to be identical to "Tutankhamen" by Nightwish. I actually did research about Tutankhamun so I can write the song. I always had a fond about ancient Egypt. It inspired me when I saw the Mummy in young adolesence. I had a lot of fun writing this song.

Starving Artist
This song describes part of me as a writer. I don't have a job and I feel like my life is going no where. I feel like I'm in prison of my own life and that no one can help me. Not even my "children" can and it makes me think that I'll never be a known writer when I die. It expresses to see if anything I lost will make me known, not actual death, though I have my doubts.

Weine Nicht
German version of "Don't Cry".

Neplač
Now this is unusual for me to have as a song. "Don't Cry" in Slovak! I have a Slovakian friend and she wanted to translated the song as an exercise, though some parts are roughly translated.

A lonely Ocean Soul, just like Tuomas Holopainen. Born near the waves and always wanted to be with the waves ever since I was a wee child.

More dark ages go by with no moonlight to shine over the one. The one who I will never get to see. No angel whispers to me. No comfort can stand these dark nights. The more I call, the more I cry - Cerulean Love by yours truely
